Withdrawal or Leave of Absence

Students who are leaving the University before completing their program, permanently or temporarily, can notify ISSS by completing the Leave of Absence/Withdrawal Request for SEVIS.

Starting a New UConn Program

Students who are completing or are close to completing a current UConn program and will start a new UConn program should request a new I-20 with new financial documentation.

Returning Student I-20 Request

Deadline: Within 30 days after you finish your current UConn program, and before you begin your new UConn program. You will need to complete the ISSS Online Orientation and submit arrival documents again at the start of the new program.

Changing UConn Campuses

Students who change UConn campuses should request a new I-20 with new financial documentation.

Experiential Global Learning

Students who will participate in a study abroad program through Experiential Global Learning should submit a Travel Information Record and schedule an appointment to meet with your ISSS advisor.

Off Site Research

Sometimes F-1 students complete research off-site (in the U.S. or your home country) as part of your degree program. You should discuss your plans with your ISSS advisor, and if we will keep your I-20 active, you will need to complete the Off Site Research Form with your academic advisor.
