Advising Services

Drop-In Advising (In Person)

ISSS advisors are available in-person on a drop-in basis at the Storrs, Stamford, Law and GBLC campuses with no appointment needed, during scheduled hours.

Drop-in advising is generally for quick questions related to travel, working on campus, OPT, CPT, changing programs, withdrawing from courses, or other matters which do not require significant advising time. Issues that are more complex require an appointment with your designated international advisor, except for Law School, which works on a primarily drop-in basis (see below).

ISSS Storrs: Monday through Friday between 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm.

ISSS Hartford (Graduate Business Learning Center): Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 1:00 - 3:30 pm

ISSS Stamford: Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 8:30 am - 4 pm

ISSS Law School: Monday and Thursday, 8 am-12 pm, 1 pm - 4 pm

ISSS Advising – UConn Waterbury and Avery Point Campuses
ISSS offices and staff are not based at the UConn Avery Point and Waterbury campuses. UConn Waterbury campus students should contact ISSS Stamford with immigration questions, international advising, or to arrange for travel signatures.  You can also schedule virtual appointments with Lulu Dong, the ISSS advisor for UConn Stamford and Waterbury (see instructions below).

Students and exchange visitors at UConn Avery Point can meet with an ISSS advisor when they visit campus, which is usually one time per semester.  Students and exchange visitors at UConn Avery Point should contact Amina Kader, amina.kader@uconn.edu, with any immigration or international advising questions, or to arrange for travel signatures.  You can also schedule virtual appointments with Amina Kader (see instructions below).

Advisor Appointments

ISSS Advisors are also available for in-person and virtual appointments to discuss issues that are more complex, or that may require familiarity with your academic program or program requirements. You can schedule an appointment with your advisor by clicking on their profile and selecting the "Schedule an Appointment" button.  You are assigned to work with a specific ISSS Advisor based on your campus and program of study. Not sure who your assigned advisor is? Find your advisor here. Pay attention to the appointment details, which will confirm whether the appointment you select is virtual or in-person.
