CISS Room Reservation Request

Room 202 in the Center for International Students and Scholars may be used by UConn student organizations hosting events or meetings that are open to the university community and that support the greater mission of CISS. This space can accommodate up to 99 people standing or 75 people with 8 tables and all of the chairs out. This room contains chairs for seating up to 55 people, a lounge area, monitor, outlets, data jacks, projector and whiteboard.

Student organizations are encouraged to submit the CISS Room Reservation form at least two weeks prior to the date of the event.  Submitting the CISS Room Reservation form does not guarantee the applicant will be able to reserve the room. You will receive confirmation within 5 business days.  Room 202  may not be available if requested with short-notice (i.e. day-of) therefore we ask that you please try to schedule a date and time as far in advance as possible. 

  1. The applicant understands a request will not guarantee permission to use the space.  The space may not be available outside of University business hours;
  2. The applicant, the applicant’s organization/department, and the individuals attending the event agree to abide by the Community Standards of the University.  Individuals who violate these Community Standards will be asked to leave and/or may forfeit future opportunities to use CISS space;
  3. The requester and/or the applicant’s organization/department is/are responsible for the set-up prior to the event and clean-up of the space following the event.  A half hour will be added to the beginning and end of every reservation to allow for set-up and clean-up.
  4. Absolutely no tables and chairs may be moved from one area to another. Any special arrangements must be made and approved in advance, at the time the application is made. No tape, nails, staples, etc. may be used on facility walls, ceilings or windows. Candles are also not permitted.
  5. Equipment and furnishings at CISS cannot be removed from the premises for any reason without written approval. No unauthorized use of CISS equipment or supplies (e.g., computers, copier, fax machine, etc.) is permitted. Contact international@uconn.edu if you plan to use the projector or white board for your event. Storage is not available for any purpose either before or after the event/meeting.
  6. All catering arrangements are to be made by the reserving organization, according to University policy. CISS is not responsible for food distributed and provided by other organizations using the space. All food and beverages must be removed at the conclusion of the event by the reserving person or organization. The designated contact person must assume responsibility for both set-up and clean up. Use of the kitchen requires prior approval and may only to be used to prepare light refreshments, which involve no cooking, only warming. All food-related supplies must be provided by the reserving group.
  7. CISS rm 202 is accessible through the entrance at the rear of the building.  Email international@uconn.edu as soon as accommodation is known to be needed.
  8. The applicant/responsible representative and/or the applicant’s organization/department is/are liable for any damage to the property of CISS;
  9. Any advertisements associated with the event must be on file at the CISS at the time of request and again prior to the event;
  10. Permission for facility use may, under limited circumstances, be rescinded in the event of extenuating circumstances;
  11. CISS reserves the right to change policies and community standards, and to charge fees for facility usage without notification.  Applicants to use the space should notify CISS at least 24 hours in advance if an event is canceled or postponed.  Failure to use the room on two consecutive occasions without advance notification may result in the loss of reservation privileges.
