Who does Huong advise?  

Huong advises all Storrs campus students in the School of Fine Arts, Huong also advises all Mathematics, Psychology, Biological Sciences and EEB majors. Huong also advises students in the social sciences including, Anthropology, Communication, Economics, Geography, Human Development and Family Sciences, Linguistics, Sociology and is a point of contact for sponsored J-1 students (e.g. Fulbright, USAID, IREX) within the departments she advises.

Huong has been working in higher education since January 2014 in different roles. She joined the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) in August 2021 as the International Programs Assistant, and in July 2023 became an International Advisor. Prior to her time at UConn, she worked at Missouri University of Science and Technology as a Graduate Studies Specialist for two years and at Kansas State University’s International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) as an International Student Advisor for over five years. Huong is originally from Hanoi, Vietnam. She holds two B.A. degrees, one in English from Hanoi National University and the other in Economics from Foreign Trade University. Huong understands the importance of cultural competency and embraces cultural diversity. She deeply enjoys working with international populations and experiencing new languages and cultures.

Outside of ISSS, you will find Huong either playing tennis or badminton with her friends/colleagues, hanging out with her friends, traveling with her husband and daughters, or simply enjoying all that New England has to offer.
