Amina graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in International Relations. In addition, she received a TESOL certificate. As an undergraduate student, Amina studied Arabic language for three years and studied abroad in Egypt and Oman. Following graduation, she spent time teaching English in China. Amina tried to learn Mandarin but was not very successful she claims. However, she speaks a bit of Hindi/Urdu and she understands Arabic as well. Before coming to UConn ISSS, Amina lived in Dallas, TX and worked as an international student advisor at the University of Texas at Dallas.


Who does Amina advise? Amina advises all students and visiting scholars in the Physical Sciences, such as Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Geosciences, and Chemistry, as well as all Avery Point students and scholars.
